MY WORK
I'm not sure I've really developed my own style in relation to my pottery journey, and I'm not sure I ever will! I'm choosing to say I have an eclectic style. I experiment with different forms and methods, including wheel-thrown and hand-built. I take my inspiration from many places-nature, the work of artists I admire, even what's on the shelves of the local thrift stores. While I don't know that I have an identifiable style, I do tend towards the whimsical. I have a few projects I can't seem to stop making, like my cone animals and my Buxom Beauties vases, and other things I enjoy making once and will never come back to again. My wheel-throwing improves all the time, but let's just say I'm still working on consistency. Once I make a mug or a bowl or a vase, it's possible I will never be able to replicate it again. But that's the joy and the challenge of learning a new art form! For now, I make what I want based on what inspires me, and I send my pieces out into the world hoping they will resonate with someone else and bring them joy.
